On March 6th the Kick Off event for creative coding started at BRG Kepler Graz. All project partners came to Austria to meet each other and to get to know the project.
The Creative Coding Kick Off in Graz was a four-day event filled with exciting activities and collaborative learning experiences.
On the first day all project members got to know each other and got a short introduction of what to expect for the week. bits4kids presented the project process and the partner organizations were also allowed to go through the process of creative coding with code’n’stitch and the app EmbroideryDesigner.
In the evening, we enjoyed a delicious dinner at Der Steirer.
The second day was focused on pattern design and coding with EmbroideryDesigner. The participants worked with local pupils to design the embroidery patterns and transfer it to a coordinate system on a paper sheet.
In the evening we cooked typical styrian dinner together and enjoyed talking and plan the next steps for the upcoming two days.
On day three, the principal of BRG Kepler was leading a school tour, showing the participants around the school and explaining its features and programs.
After the tour they engaged with the students in coding activities and stitching the patterns with the embroidery machine.
They also explored Graz with a city tour during the day and visited the only school observatory in Austria at night.
The final day was all about finalizing and stitching the patterns, and the event was closed with a sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. Overall, the creative coding Kick Off in Graz was a great opportunity for participants to connect, learn and collaborate with each other while exploring the local culture and community.
